Instructions

Prepare the Starch Mixture

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water until it forms a smooth slurry. This will be used to thicken the soy sauce into a paste.

 

Heat the Soy Sauce

Pour the soy sauce into a small saucepan and heat it over medium heat. Add the brown sugar or honey and stir until dissolved.

 

Thicken the Mixture

Gradually add the starch slurry to the soy sauce while stirring continuously. The mixture will start to thicken as it heats. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
